If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, and at least 18 years old, you can sponsor eligible family members to become Canadian permanent resident.

Who You Can Sponsor

  • Spouse, Common-law partner or Conjugal partner (including same-sex partner)
  • Dependent children under 22 years old and do not have a spouse,
  • your children of 22 years old or older but financially dependent on you because of a physical/mental condition OR they have been depended on you financially since before the age of 22,
  • Your own parents and grandparents related by blood or adoption,
  • Orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild,
  • A relative, if eligible. 

Sponsor Your Spouse, Partner or Child

You can sponsor a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, or dependent child to immigrate to Canada whether they live inside or outside Canada.
FAMILY CLASS SPONSORSHIP
  • the person your want to sponsor lives outside Canada, OR
  • the person your want to sponsor currently lives with you in Canada but doesn't plan to stay in Canada while the application is being processed
  • You plan to appeal if the application is refused
  • You must apply under this class if you are sponsoring your conjugal partner or dependent child​.

SPOUSE OR PARTNER LIVING IN CANADA CLASS
​If your spouse or partner:​​​
  • lives with you in Canada
  • has valid immigration status in Canada
  • wish to apply for an Open Work Permit while the application is being processed,
  • You may apply under this category if it fits your particular needs. This category has a disadvantage, which is no right to appeal a negative decision to the Immigration Appeal Division.

How We Can Help You

1. To assess eligibility
Before we start, we conduct a one-on-one consultation with you to assess your eligibility to sponsor and the eligibility of the person being sponsored.

2. To choose class of application
We advise you on the class of application that suits your particular situations and needs. 

3. To prepare application package
We prepare your application package by following the steps in this guide and referring to instructions on your checklist. To better serve our clients, we provide notarization, certified translation of foreign documents and true copies verification services for an additional fee. 

4. To submit application with Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
Given IRCC’s rigorous requirements, it is important to provide a complete package at the initial submission to avoid delays or return of an incomplete application package. Our extensive experience in dealing with family sponsorship allows us to assist clients with preparing complete and accurate applications to sponsor their loved-ones to Canada.

5. To communicate with IRCC
We communicate with IRCC, and Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) on your behalf, including but not limited to, corresponding through phone calls, email, and mail; complying with immigration officer requests in a timely manner; tracking application progress; and filling for changes of your circumstances.

6. Prepare you for immigration interview
We consider preparation for spousal sponsorship interview to be absolutely essential.  As such, our consultants will take the time to do a preparatory session, where we will pose the kind of questions that the claimant can expect to receive from the officer at the interview.  This practice both assists with reviewing the essential elements of our client’s application, provides reassurance and increases their confidence for their big day at the interview.

Processing Time For Family Sponsorship 

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada provides estimates of the processing time for your sponsorship application.The current processing time for spousal sponsorship application is 12 months.

​We consider preparation for application filing to be absolutely essential. Spouse/Partner Open Work Permit 

If your spouse or partner is living in Canada with you and is applying under Spouse In Canada Class, our firm can help your spouse to obtain an open work permit so that he/she is able to work while the application is being processed.

The first step to sponsor your parents or grandparents is filing out the Interest to Sponsor Form.
The Interest to Sponsor parents and grandparents form 2020 has yet to be opened by the IRCC.
Sponsor's Responsibilities:
As a sponsor to a relative, you must:
  • support your relative financially when they arrive,
  • be able to meet basic needs for yourself and your relative, such as food, shelter, and clothing,
  • make sure your relative doesn’t need social assistance
How To Sponsor A Relative: 
Depending on your situation, there are 2 options for who you can sponsor as a relative:
  • Option 1: Orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild
  • Option 2:  Sponsor one relative, of any age, if you don't have a living close relative you could sponsor instead, or you don't have any relatives who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or registered Indigenous person of Canada
